Mental Health Warrior & Neurospicy Mama

Subject: From My Heart to Yours: Lessons, Laughter & Real Talk 💜

Hey Friend,

It’s Amy here—the Mental Health Warrior & Neurospicy Mama—coming at you with this week’s podcast info., straight from the heart! If you tuned into my recent chat with the incredible Lori Kerstein on the Goodbye Good Girl Project, you know we went deep—and had some laughs along the way, too.

In case you missed it (or just want the highlights), here’s why this episode means so much to me—and why I think you’ll find it inspiring, too.

Owning Our Neurospicy Brains

It took me until my 40s to get diagnosed with ADHD (shoutout to my 30s bipolar diagnosis—better late than never, right?). Getting those labels didn’t box me in; instead, it gave me relief. Suddenly, I knew why things felt different—and I could finally seek real, targeted help.

Fun Fact #1:
The title “Neurospicy Mama” originated from a guest I once interviewed who called themselves “neurospicy.” I claimed it, and, if you ask me, it’s way more fun than “neurodivergent adult!”

Letting Our Freak Flags Fly

Coming out publicly about my diagnosis wasn’t easy. For years, only my closest friends and family knew. I remember posting honestly about my journey on social for the first time and waking up in a cold sweat. But you know what? It brought me closer to my true self—and to all of you.

Fun Fact #2:
Lori reminded me: real connection happens in “emotional intimacy”—that blissful state where you bravely share your real self, and someone accepts you exactly as you are.

Breaking the “Perfect Mom” Myth

Being a mom to a daughter on the autism spectrum means I’ve had to learn (and unlearn) so much. People have opinions… SO MANY opinions. But when I stopped parenting by the book and started trusting my gut—and honoring her neurospicy uniqueness—everything changed for the better.

Fun Fact #3:
Lori told the wildest story: in the 1980s, parents who mirrored their autistic son’s behaviors helped him grow out of his shell so much, he was leading workshops as an adult—proof that being seen and understood is powerful medicine.

If you feel “too sensitive,” “too different,” “not enough,” I’m here to remind you: You’re not broken. You’re not alone. And you’re not meant to be like everyone else. The things that make you different truly are your superpowers.

Thank you for being part of this bold, loving, perfectly imperfect community. If you haven’t yet, check out my podcast, Mental Health Warrior & Neurospicy Mama (over 60 episodes & counting!), and don’t forget—you’re always enough, just as you are.

Sending love, acceptance, and a spark of spicy courage,

Amy 💜
